Project Management

JP Stewart Associates assists organizations with project management techniques in a variety of ways.

Project plan review and analysis.

Project plans can often benefit from an external, objective review. We will review your project plan, charter, scope statement, risk plan, and the schedule for your project. Based on our findings, we will make recommendations for improvements in project direction, focus, and use of resources.

Project execution.

Frequently, projects, which are by nature temporary, do not require fulltime long-term in-house project managers. We will come on-site to kick-off your project and oversee it through completion. Typical projects include software and hardware upgrades, new technology deployments, and the introduction of new consumer products from cameras to drugs. We will consult with management to create a realistic project schedule. We will manage vendor interfaces, oversee on-site teams of employees and contractors, regularly report progress to senior management, and provide risk analyses.

Project recovery.

Projects often get off to a good start and then, due to factors such as lack of monitoring and control, veer off track. We will meet with upper management to assess the project. Based on the information we find, we will report on current project status, prioritize project steps, spell out resources required to complete the project, establish cost and schedule controls, and sometimes suggest cancellation or postponement. We are, of course, available to manage execution of the project.

Project risk management.

Organizations often overlook the risk management piece of project management. They often have the de facto philosophy of dealing with problems if and when they arise. In successful project management, the team anticipates risks and has a plan in place to resolve them should they arise. We will meet with your project management team to assist in identifying risks, prioritizing them, and developing a risk response plan.
