Preparing for the PMP® Exam
Established in 1969 and headquartered outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the
Project Management Institute (PMI®) is the world’s leading
not-for-profit project management professional association, with more than 120,000
members worldwide. |
PMI published the project management standard, A Guide to the
Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide). Since 1984,
PMI has been dedicated to developing and maintaining a rigorous, examination-based,
professional certification program to advance the project management profession
and to recognize the achievements of individuals in project management. PMI’s
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is the world’s most
recognized professional credential for individuals associated with project management.
This class will provide the 35 contact hours that PMI requires before applying
for the exam. The ten knowledge areas that comprise the PMP certification exam
are reviewed:
- Project Integration Management
- Project Scope Management
- Project Time Management (scheduling)
- Project Cost Management
- Project Quality Management
|
- Project Human Resource Management
- Project Communications Management
- Project Risk Management
- Project Procurement Management
- Professional Responsibility
|
This course is not intended to be an in-depth presentation of these areas,
but rather a review of each area for the accomplished project manager who wants
to attain certification. Through study and self-testing of each module, students
will be able to determine strengths and weaknesses, develop test strategies, and
build self-confidence towards preparing for the PMP exam.
Who should attend
The class focuses on project managers who have at least three years experience
working in a project environment. These students should have good in-depth knowledge
of several of the modules and have applied them in real world situations.
